1.
Please
review the schedule. The
first column is your team letter designation.
The second column is your team name.
The “LOC” column is the location of your game.
The “OPP” column is your opponent in the first game.
Friday games are single games.
Sunday games are always double headers.
2.
Friday
games start time is 6:00 p.m. unless the home field coach notifies you
of a different start time. Sunday
games start at 1:00 and 3:00 unless the home field coach notifies you of
a different start time.
3.
You
should contact the home field coach the Monday before your game and find
out which field location you will be playing and the field number.
This is very important since some communities have multiple
locations and have up to 8 fields at a location.
Also, ask him/her the umpire pay that you will be responsible for
. Your typical cost per
game should be approx. $32.00 if two umpires are used and $24.00 if
only one umpire is used.
4.
Second games of round-robin double headers are played
against the opponent on the next field.
On multiple fields at one complex, the winner of the first game
of field 1 would play the winner of field 2.
The losers would also play each other.
Please ensure that your opponent is of the same division
(varsity, JV or minor). If
you have already played that opponent, you can check on other fields and
play an opponent that you have not played.
5.
The home field coach is always the home team on the
first game. All other teams
must flip to determine home team. On
the second game, if both teams were home or visitors on the first game,
then you must flip to determine home team for the second game.
If one team was home on the first game and the other team was
visitor, then they switch for the second game.
6.
You must have your roster with you at all games.
If you are short players, you can start the game with 8 and take
an automatic out for the 9th position.
If a player shows up late, she can enter the 9th
position. If you have less
than 8 players then you must take a forfeit but you can play the game
using the opponent’s players in your defensive positions.
This score will be reported as 7-0 regardless of the outcome of
the game. Courtesy runners
are the last out of the inning unless you are not batting all of your
players and then it must follow ASA rules.
Courtesy runners are used for the pitcher and catcher only.
7.
If you must cancel a game prior to the game date, you
must do the following:
A.
Call the HOME FIELD COACH and your opponent.
Follow this up with an e-mail to both as well as to Martin Drain,
e-mail Fast2home@yahoo.com.
Martin will attempt to find a replacement for the team that
cancelled. Home field
coaches should contact Martin before canceling umpires.
B.
Cancellations 48 hours prior to game time are not
forfeits and can be made up.
8.
Home field coaches must schedule umpires for all
fields at their complex. Contact
Martin if you would like a list of ASA umpires.
You can also contact John Mathews who will schedule umpires for
you for a fee. His e-mail is
"John Mathews"
brigjohnmatt@yahoo.com,
his phone is 419-386-9092. Each
team should write down the name of the umpires in the scorebook prior to
the start of each game.
Umpires are required to have a 2010 ASA sanction card with them at all times.
9.
Each team is to provide a good used or new ball for
each game. Time limits are
one hour and 45 minutes for single game and 90 minutes for double header
games. At the end of the
time limit, you may not start a new
inning unless the game is tied. In
this case, the international
tiebreaker will be used to determine a winner.
THERE ARE NO TIES IN THIS LEAGUE.
10.
The league is played according to ASA rules except
for the league rules as stated. Umpires
should follow all ASA rules unless league rules state otherwise.
11.
In the Minor division only, there is a 6 run per
inning rule. A team may tie
the score and score 6 more runs in any one inning.
Stealing is permitted but only one base per pitch.
This also includes that on a walk; the runner may proceed to 1st
base and steal second before the next pitch.
There is no “infield fly or dropped 3rd strike”
rule in this division in the regular season.
The pitching distance is 35’ and an 11” ball is used
regardless of the age of the pitcher.
12.
Batting line-ups.
You must bat all of your players if you have the same number or
fewer players as your opponent in the regular season.
A freedom of defensive substitution is allowed if you are batting
all of your players. If you
are not batting all of your players then bench players must be reported
to your opponent prior to them entering the game.
13.
Winning and losing coaches must e-mail their game
results to Karen Schnitkey at
k.schnitkey@yahoo.com
with their updated season record. You
must report your team name, letter designation, division (varsity, JV or
minor), your opponent’s full team name and the score of the game.
Please report the scores no later than the Monday following your
games. Teams not reporting their scores properly within 5 days will be
given a loss. League
standings can be found on our website:
www.fastsoftball.org.
14.
Final rosters are required to be e-mailed to Fast2Home@yahoo.com
prior to your first game with the player’s name, school district that
she attends and the grade that she is in for this current school year.
All players must be from your school district unless you have
written authorization from the league.
6th graders are permitted to play in the Minor
Division with written authorization from the league.
Varsity players may not play in a lower division but Minor and JV
players are permitted to play in a higher division.
Players may be added to your roster but the updated roster must
be e-mailed to the league prior to them being used.
Please
contact me if you need clarification.
I have your ASA and USSSA packets at our indoor facility, call me
to arrange to pick them up.
Thanks,
Martin Drain
